Coaching for Success

The aim of this course is to provide participants with a clear understanding of the business coaching process and to become sufficiently knowledgeable and skilled so that they can confidently practice the role of an effective coach within their organisation.

As with all of the Business Coaching Foundation's workshops, Coaching for Success will be highly interactive and very practical, aiming to cater for all the learning styles of our delegates. At the end of the workshop there will be opportunity for the delegates to practice their new coaching skills and reinforce their learning.

By the end of the Coaching for Success course participants will be able to:

  • Understand where the coaching process fits into the overall training and development strategy of an organisation
  • Be able to describe the benefits of coaching in relation to the learner, the learner's manager and the organisation
  • Be able to describe the range of learning activities in the coaching "toolbox"
  • Understand how and why people learn and the application of this in the coaching process
  • Be able to prepare a coaching plan
  • Describe the skills, knowledge and personal attributes required of an effective coach
  • Be able to prepare, deliver, assess and evaluate a practical one-to-one coaching session

Module Two - Understanding Learning

  • How and why people learn
  • Matching learning styles to coaching methods
  • Motivating the learner
  • Overcoming barriers to learning
  • Understanding and using the learning curve in coaching

Module Three - Preparing to Coach

  • Identifying the individual's training need(s)
  • Pre-coaching assessment
  • Preparing a coaching plan
  • Setting objectives
  • Preparing a coaching session using SOPs and job/task/fault analysis
  • Building in standards of performance and post-coaching assessments

Module Four - Delivering an Effective Coaching Session

  • Gaining commitment to the objectives
  • Practice and guidance
  • Ongoing and terminal assessment
  • Giving feedback

Module Five - Theory Into Practice
An opportunity for the participants to practice their newly developed coaching skills through a variety of different possible activities which can include:

  • Traditional roleplay
  • Case studies
  • Identifying specific situations and possible solutions
  • Roleplay using professional actors
  • Forum theatre
