1-2-1 Executive Coaching

Specific, ongoing and individual....

This overview looks at some of the reasons why 1-2-1 coaching is so effective in a number of instances. I know that you are aware of the benefits of 1-2-1 and so the specific logistics of conducting this particular coaching support is highlighted at the end of the general overview should you wish to cut-to-the-chase.

Why is 1-2-1 so effective?

For a start 1-2-1 coaching is just that, 1-2-1. This means that it is specific, ongoing and individual. Individual meetings with executives gives your coach the chance to really find out what it is that makes them tick, what there real strengths and weaknesses are and work alongside them, constantly challenging them about such subjects as, their boss/peers and how to manage them, getting the most out of their team, getting the most out of themselves, adapting their style, looking at situations in a different and more productive way, handling situations in different ways and letting go of preconceived ideas to discover the best options.

It also allows time out following the introduction of new ideas from some kind of formal learning to reflect, review, clarify, agree actions and implement the learning.

Some of the areas that 1-2-1 coaching can address include...

1-2-1 executive coaching can help in all these areas.

Benefits

For Your Organisation

For the specific coaching that the BCF are conducting. The ROI will come from the drilling down of actions to be taken. When, How and who by will be an essential part of the coaching, and what the first step will look like. You will also gain the benefit of a pragmatic coach who will challenge each individual as to exactly why this new learning will benefit them / the team / the business.

Business benefits often include

For Each Individual

A fantastic opportunity for each person to discuss relevant areas of understanding and implementation. They can check proposed strategies, embed the learning and set targets for completion. Successes and challenges can then be picked up, reviewed and adapted at the follow-up meetings. Ongoing support is available in-between via email and phone communication.

For Any Current Learning initiative

If you have made the decision to invest in a recent Training Programme, it was an important decision. As you are probably aware, most new learning, if not put into practice, is lost after 90 days. This would constitute a large investment wasted. The most effective way to make sure that this learning brings about sustainable change is by the individual taking ownership of their experience and being held accountable by their coach.

For Future Use

One of the advantages that your senior team will find from working closely with a coach, is that they will experience first hand the techniques and processes involved in implementing continuous momentum and gaining agreement and commitment. Obviously, over a period of time these techniques can then be adopted and implemented by each individual with their peers/team members.

Suggested Route Forward

Our suggested approach is for 6 x 2 hour sessions approximately every 3-4 weeks. This gives enough meeting time and coverage to embed processes and measure outcomes. It also builds a relationship between the coach & executive over a four-month period. This relationship tends to be continued on an ad-hoc ongoing basis from there depending on requirements.
