Creating a Coaching Culture

Many of our clients ask us to help them create a coaching culture. One of our first questions here is; 'What has happened or is happening, to get to this point'?

A coaching culture approach can deliver team and organisational learning, aid effective cultural change, increase the engagement of staff and stakeholders in the enterprise of the organisation and support the delivery of the core strategy. The journey has many benefits for those companies who follow it through to the end, including embedding coaching in a way that will survive cost cuts and major staff changes.

Coaching is not a one stop and shouldn't become a 'flavour of the month' concept. To fully embrace a coaching culture it needs to be available across all levels of employees.

The organisation needs to understand what it is trying to achieve through the coaching at each level; ideally this should be linked to the organisations core competencies. When the organisation has a competency framework ROI can be measured far more easily.

The organisation then has a choice whether to outsource the coaching or commence an internal programme. The Business Coaching foundation are highly skilled at 1 to 1 business coaching, having been the outsourced choice for Orange (Everything Everywhere), Balfour Beatty, AXA, Lease Plan and many more. We have also been the supplier of choice for training coaches to achieve the ILM Level 5 Business Coaching Certificate, some of our clients include DAS Legal, Estee Lauder and EADS (owners of Airbus), BUPA and more.

Monitoring and reviewing is also key in creating a coaching culture. How well has the individual performed since completing their coaching sessions? This should be monitored through a robust appraisal system.

The Business Coaching Foundation are highly efficient at putting all the above in place for you efficiently and effectively.
