Effective time management is the difference between functioning and achieving. Essential to individual and organisational productivity, time management is the identification of the achievement criteria and progression towards this through effective prioritisation and organisation.
Time management is a discipline of the mind, based on achievement, through making the right choices.
Objectives
By the end of the programme delegates will be able to:
- Describe what time management is, its key components, and the benefits personally and organisationally of better time management.
- Prioritise and organise their workload in a more efficient way.
- Identify all obstacles preventing them from using their time effectively.
- Set and carry out specific and measurable objectives enabling them to perform their priority tasks.
- Analyse how they currently spend their time and identify how they will use their time differently.
- Highlight the key tasks they must perform to achieve their priority objectives.
Programme Outline
Pre-course
For 3 days keep a time log per each half hour and bring to the course.
- Time as a key resources to include:
- Why do we need to manage our time more effectively?
- What is the main reason you are employed by your Company? (i.e. the aim of your job).
- What are the main areas of work you have to do each day to achieve your job role.
- Where are your time wasters?
- What shouldn't you be doing at all?
- What should you be doing less of?
- What should you be doing more of?
- What should you be delegating?
- In summary - what is preventing you from managing your time? (obstacles for you).
- Case Study - A Day in the Life of Peter Frantic
- Time Management tips.
- Practical implementation of managing your use of time.
- ‘Forest of Time - Journey of Discovery'.
- Groups to review the time management effectiveness in playing ‘Forest of Time' including key actions you will take to mange the use of your time in the future.
